Description
The simple lines of the Cross Sideboard by Matthew Hilton are distinctively modern. The functional design is sturdy, handsome and has a solid base frame and legs, while its body is made of veneered oak. It is configured with three drawers on the left side and two doors on th
e right which lead to two compartments, one of which features two adjustable shelves. All the sideboard's handles are made of rectangular solid wood. This is a relatively high sideboard that appears to almost glide on its distinctively angled legs. It is a robust piece, ideal for dining and living areas. Matthew Hilton worked as an industrial designer and model maker until 1984 when he set up his own design studio/workshop. Two years later he launched a series of shelves at the Milan Furniture Fair, and in 1991 he designed the Balzac Armchair, which was embraced as a modern classic. Since then, Hilton's work has taken on a less stylistic, more functional approach.
